Biography

Gen Maldonado was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. At an early age, she learned to read music and was directing a church choir by the age of 14. She continued her music studies in high school and university, studying musical theater and acting. She has performed in musical production shows and concerts all over New York City. By the age of 21, Gen started working professionally in nightclubs, casinos, theaters and corporate fundraising events. She has also performed for Barbara Walters, ABC News and other celebrities. In 2006, Gen was chosen to perform at the world famous Apollo Theatre in New York City. Her vocal ability landed her spot in the finals.

 

Gen’s musical versatility has landed her a successful career. She committed to mastering the art of soul, singing, rock ‘n’ roll, jazz, pop and other genres.  

 

In 2010, she began her career as an entertainer on luxury cruise lines and it has become her dream come true. She has toured over 80 countries and all 7 continents. She has been entertaining audiences worldwide with her funny, personality and powerful vocals. Gen is a true New Yorker at heart, and she expresses that in all of her shows. Covering icons, such as Barbra Streisand, Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer, Whitney Houston and Tina Turner to name a few, she is a singing sensation.

 

Gen has also recorded a debut album called “You Belong” which features original songs written by David Todd Singleton, cover songs, and other arrangments written by other various writers. She has mastered the art of recording and producing in her recent years and is working on a new album which is coming soon. 

 

Gen commands the stage with her energetic and victorious performances and she will leave her audiences overjoyed and full of life.
